Erbium Laser for Wrinkle Reduction
Erbium ablative laser is all about wrinkle reduction. It is better than CO2 lasers because the amount of secondary heat that it produces is adjustable whereas CO2 is always hot. This advantage of erbium laser very IMPORTANT! Excess secondary tissue heating with CO2 is associated with longer lasting redness post procedure and higher risks of both hypopigmentation and hyperpigmentation especially in darker skin types.
This refined erbium laser allows for an almost infinite choice in how gentle or aggressive you laser peel will be. Each level provides a different end result, adjustable to fit the lifestyle needs and end desires of the patient. The Sciton Erbium Laser System allows for treatment depths as minimal as 4 microns (similar to a glycolic acid peel) up to 120 microns (full resurfacing effect.)
NanoLaserPeel™ is the lightest peel and removes about 4 microns of epidermis for improved light reflection. No down time.
MicrolaserPeel™ is a mild to moderate removal of the epidermis typically 10 to 30 microns and often combined with Profractional because their healing times are simultaneous – about 3 or 4 days. Compared to chemical peels, but laser is more predictable.
Profractional Erbium™ is the most sophisticated way to put an array of small holes into the skin for a wide variety of purposes. The holes induce remodeling in scars and can be used to introduce helpful medications like steroids or 5-FU for keloids or bimataprost for hypopigmentation. Profractional is often combined with MicrolaserPeel to add deeper tightening and wrinkle reducing effect without adding to downtime. May be done as a series.
TRL™ is Sciton’s name for full-field resurfacing. This removes the entire epidermis and part of the dermis for the most aggressive wrinkle and tightening treatments for older sun-damaged skin. Compared to CO², but Erbium is much more user friendly! Downtime is 10 days, but this is a single treatment and has no equal to improve severe solar damage and wrinkles.
The way to brighter, tighter skin.

Micron precision for customized application.Nothing shows age like our skin. If your skin looks dull and tired, you may be considering (or already doing) treatments like a chemical peel or microdermabrasion. These are treatments that use chemicals or abrasive materials to remove the top layer of the skin, revealing new skin underneath.
But the NanoLaserPeel™ from Sciton can do much more. It uses light energy to instantly remove the top layers of the skin at a depth that also accelerates the skin’s own renewal process by activating special messenger proteins.
Microdermabrasion and chemical peels often don’t get deep enough and other lasers leaves a layer of heat-damaged cells that interrupt the ability of these messenger cells to communicate with deep layers of skin.
Only the NanoLaserPeel from Sciton has the precision to work at just the right depth, creating beautifully smooth, luminous skin.

The Sciton MicroLaserPeel™ is ideal for patients want a fast result with little downtime. This peel removes fine lines and wrinkles leaving behind fresh youthful skin. Some patients call it the “weekend procedure” because of its immediate, long term results. The Erbium Yag laser, one of the leading precision lasers available today is so precise, it reduces any discomfort for perfect coverage and uniform ablation that was not possible before with other laser systems.
What is the MicroLaserPeel™?
It is a minimal to full epidermal laser peel that precisely removes the outermost layers of the skin. The procedure is individually tailored to your needs. MicroLaserPeel can be effectively used for:
• Fine lines and wrinkles
• Scars
• Keratoses (pre-cancerous lesions)
• Pigmentation problems
• Overall sun damage
The ProFractional laser is used to treat:
- Wrinkles and fine lines
- Post-traumatic scars
- Acne scars
- Age spots
- Sun spots
- Freckles
- Aging and sun-damaged skin
The ProFractional laser uses laser energy to create thousands of microscopic channels in the skin which are surrounded by areas of healthy, untreated skin. The zones of untreated skin invigorate the body’s natural healing process, and the treated areas stimulate production of new collagen, plumping up the skin and smoothing out wrinkles, lines, scars and other irregularities.
Candidates for the ProFractional laser are those with scars, wrinkles or sun damage who want younger-looking skin. The face, neck chest and hands can be treated with the ProFractional laser and procedures take from 15 to 30 minutes depending on the condition of the skin and the size of area being treated. In some cases, a numbing cream may be applied prior to treatment to ensure complete comfort.
After treatment, you may experience a mild redness and most patients can return to their normal work/play schedule within one to two days following treatment. ProFractional works very well as a stand-alone procedure or in combination with other treatments. For instance, combination therapies include:
The Contour TRL (Tunable Resurfacing Laser) is a full-field skin resurfacing solution, capable of a wide variety of treatment options. From a shallow MicroLaserPeel® (up to 50µm of ablation) to deep resurfacing (up to 200µm of ablation per pass, with or without variable depth coagulation), the Contour TRL gives the physician exquisite control over surgical outcomes.
The Contour TRL’s unique ability to be tuned for different tissue effects gives it the widest array of possible treatments. TRL technology provides the ability to plane down wrinkles externally while internally stimulating the dermal collagen matrix to firm the skin and add dermal resilience.
Primary treatments include:
- Mild to deep wrinkles
- Persistent peri-oral and peri-orbital deep rhytides
- Acne scars, post-traumatic and surgical scars
- Actinic keratoses
- Pigmented lesions
- Lax skin in all areas (including upper and lower blephs)
- Poor skin tone/texture
Contour TRL can treat all skin types, both on face and body.
Sciton’s TRL technology is different. Because the Contour TRL decouples ablation and coagulation and allows for precise application of each, Dr. Adelman can dial in the exact tissue effect needed for each patient’s pathology, desired outcome, and tolerance for downtime.
